People tell me all the time that making time for a healthy breakfast is tough. And what’s a healthy breakfast anyhow? It’s not cold cereal, or yogurt, or bagels, or donuts.
Protein shakes are my favorite choice for a healthy breakfast. They’re quick to assemble, enjoyable, portable, and – if you make them right – they’ll keep you full, focused, and energized all the way until lunch. And they’re so adaptable! For my clients, I choose from about two dozen different shakes: whey, vegan, green, detox, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, chocolate, vanilla and berry!

I alternate breakfasts for my daughter: 2 scrambled eggs (from our backyard chickens) in coconut oil or a shake from a banana, coconut water, organic yogurt and a spoonful of almond butter. After that, I’m out of ideas.

lucky you to have backyard chickens, Miriam. I miss that – they are so entertaining, and nothing beats the fresh eggs! However, you need more protein in your shake to balance it properly, and the yogurt probably isn’t so helpful.
