An excellent and important article by Jane Brody. I’ve been saying for years: Sleep is health essential #1, possibly the most important thing you can do for yourself. Don’t skimp!
I disagree about melatonin, though. It is helpful only if you are deficient in melatonin, which is more likely if you are older, or crossing time zones. Otherwise, there are many other supplements, and other approaches, that may be more helpful.
