This is the kind of research that drives me nuts! Perhaps it’s true that if you change nothing else in your lifestyle, you might need an hour of exercise every day just to stay where you are. What a depressing take on health! And the saddest part is that it’s being published, publicized, and taken as gospel, and IT’S NOT TRUE! I can tell you from my own experience that I didn’t lose body fat until I stopped exercising an hour a day, and I have seen the same thing consistently with hundreds of clients. I got down to a size 4 in my 50s eating more and exercising less, but it’s the right nutrition and right exercise.
